About this work
Australia, 1995. Shayda, an Iranian woman escaping a violent husband, takes refuge with her six-year-old daughter Mona in a women's shelter. Over Nowruz the two draw comfort from the New Year rituals, but a court grants her husband Hossein visits with their daughter, and his return to their lives puts Shayda's freedom at risk. The film won the World Cinema Dramatic Audience Award at Sundance 2023.
