About this work
Enta Omri was the first song Mohamed Abdel Wahab composed for Umm Kulthum, bringing together the two giants of Egyptian music; the lyrics are by Ahmed Shafik Kamel, and it was premiered and released by Sono Cairo in 1964. Its long orchestral introduction, which sets maqam-based melodies against Western orchestral colours, and the electric guitar of Omar Khorshid in her ensemble made it a landmark in the modernisation of Arabic song. Umm Kulthum's live recordings of it can stretch to nearly an hour.
«انت عمری» نخستین ترانه‌ای است که محمد عبدالوهاب برای ام کلثوم ساخت و دیدار این دو چهرهٔ بزرگ موسیقی مصر را رقم زد؛ شعر آن از احمد شفیق کامل است و در سال ۱۹۶۴ اجرا و به‌دست صونو قاهره منتشر شد. پیش‌درآمد ارکستری بلند آن، که ملودی‌های مقامی را با رنگ‌های سازبندی غربی می‌آمیزد، و حضور گیتار الکتریک عمر خورشید در گروه، این اثر را به نقطهٔ عطفی در نوسازی ترانهٔ عربی بدل کرد. ضبط‌های زندهٔ ام کلثوم از این ترانه گاه نزدیک به یک ساعت به درازا می‌کشد.
