About this work
Mory, a young cowherd whose motorbike is crowned with a horned skull, and Anta, a disaffected student, feel trapped in Dakar and dream of escaping to Paris. They scheme and steal to pay for passage on a ship, but at the moment of departure one of them cannot let go of home. Djibril Diop Mambéty's first feature screened at the Cannes and Moscow festivals in 1973 and was restored in 2008 by Martin Scorsese's World Cinema Foundation at the Cineteca di Bologna's L'Immagine Ritrovata laboratory.
