About this work

An old nomad couple carry their gabbeh rug to a stream to wash it, and a young woman, also called Gabbeh, steps out of its woven picture. She tells her own story: she loves a horseman who follows the tribe at night howling like a wolf, but she may not marry until her uncle has found a bride. The film premiered in the Un Certain Regard section of the 1996 Cannes Film Festival.
