A Deconstructive Reading of the Play Art by Yasmina Reza

This is a scholarly article that applies Jacques Derrida's deconstructive theory to Yasmina Reza's play Art. The article examines concepts such as the floating signifier, différance, and decentering to offer a post-structuralist reading of the play. It argues that on one level the play engages with the opposition between modern abstract art and classical art, while on a deeper level it explores the failed communication and misunderstandings among three old friends, which the article traces to the inherent limitations of language, a theme central to Derrida's framework.
