About this work
The military commander of the Andalusian village of Fuenteovejuna oppresses its people and assaults its women. Laurencia rouses the villagers to revolt and they kill him. Under torture by the king's investigators, no one gives any answer but 'Fuenteovejuna did it', and the king is forced to pardon them all.
فرماندهٔ نظامی دهکدهٔ فوئنته‌اووخونا در اندلس به مردم ستم می‌کند و به زنان دست‌درازی می‌کند. لاورنسیا روستاییان را به قیام فرامی‌خواند و مردم فرمانده را می‌کشند. زیر شکنجهٔ بازجویان پادشاه، هیچ‌کس جز یک پاسخ نمی‌دهد: «فوئنته‌اووخونا این کار را کرد»، و پادشاه ناچار همه را می‌بخشد.
