About this work
Abdullah Ibrahim recorded this piece in Cape Town in 1974 with local musicians, naming it after a township on the city's edge. Mannenberg blends jazz with marabi grooves and the sounds of Cape popular music, and became one of South Africa's best-selling jazz albums. It helped launch a style of jazz particular to Cape Town.
عبدالله ابراهیم در ۱۹۷۴ در کیپ‌تاون این قطعه را با گروهی از نوازندگان محلی ضبط کرد و نامش را از شهرکی در حاشیهٔ شهر گرفت. «مانِنبرگ» عناصر جاز را با ریتم‌ها و صداه‌ای موسیقی مردمی کیپ و ماراُبی درآمیخت و به یکی از پرفروش‌ترین آلبوم‌های جاز آفریقای جنوبی بدل شد. این اثر به شکل‌گیری سبکی از جاز ویژهٔ کیپ‌تاون کمک کرد.
