About this work
Armstrong recorded King Oliver's tune with his Hot Five in Chicago in June 1928. Its opening trumpet cadenza, Earl Hines's piano solo and Armstrong's wordless vocal made it one of the most analysed records in jazz. It is often heard as the moment jazz shifted from ensemble playing toward the art of the soloist.
آرمسترانگ در ژوئن ۱۹۲۸ در شیکاگو این قطعهٔ کینگ اولیور را با گروه هات فایو ضبط کرد. کادنزای آغازین ترومپت، تکنوازی پیانوی ارل هاینز و آواز اسکت آرمسترانگ آن را به یکی از پرتحلیل‌ترین ضبط‌های تاریخ جاز بدل کرد. این ضبط نمادی از گذار جاز از نوازندگی جمعی به هنر تک‌نواز است.
