About this work

Recorded at his California home in October 2011, the album finds Ravi Shankar in his last years playing Hindustani ragas in an informal, close-up setting with his long-time tabla partner Tanmoy Bose. Performances such as Raga Malgunji and Raga Kedara show his technique and lyricism intact. It won the Grammy for Best World Music Album, and a second volume followed in 2013.
