Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan & Party: Live at WOMAD 1985
Author: Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan · 1985
About this work
This live recording captures Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and his party's late-night set at WOMAD 1985, Real World's first encounter with him and one of his first performances for a largely non-South Asian audience. Four pieces from his regular Sufi qawwali repertoire, including "Allah Ho Allah Ho" and "Shahbaaz Qalandar," are carried by harmonium, tabla and handclaps. Issued in 2019, it sits alongside his 1990 Real World studio sessions that took qawwali to an international public.
