About this work

A refined album of pages from the Safavid period containing calligraphy and painting by Iranian and Ottoman artists, preserved in the Ahmad Pasha library. This collection represents the artistic exchange and aesthetic standards of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, bringing together examples of fine script work and miniature painting from two major Islamic empires at a time of cultural flourishing. Such albums demonstrate how elite patrons assembled fragments of valued art to create volumes that celebrated both technical mastery and artistic beauty.
