کتابی فراتر از مرز زمان که از دیدگاه تاریخی و انتقادی به بررسی اسطوره‌ها می‌پردازد. این اثر، پس از درگذشت نویسنده منتشر شد، روایت جامعی از مطالعه اسطوره را از دوران باستان تا دوره رمانتیسم ترسیم می‌کند. شامل اسطوره‌های یونان و روم باستان، مصر، بابل، آکاد و سومر، چین و روایات تورات است. همچنین به اسطوره‌های خلق‌الاصل اقوام امریکا و استرالیا و آسیای شمال‌شرقی و مرکزی پرداخته و روش‌های مختلف مطالعه اسطوره را در اروپای قرون وسطی، دوره رنسانس، روشن‌گری و حرکت رمانتیسم قرن هجدهم تا اوایل نوزدهم بررسی می‌کند.
