About this work
Beyond the Seas" is a poem by Sohrab Sepehri from The Green Volume (Hajm-e Sabz, 1967), one of the eight collections gathered in Eight Books (Hasht Ketab). The speaker resolves to build a boat and sail away from this strange soil toward a city beyond the seas, a place where windows open onto revelation and no one remembers that there was ever a stone in the road. It is among Sepehri's best known poems and a clear statement of his longing for a purer way of seeing. The full text is on Persian Wikisource, in the public domain in Iran.
«پشت دریاها» شعری است از سهراب سپهری از دفتر «حجم سبز» (۱۳۴۶)، یکی از هشت دفتر «هشت کتاب». گوینده بر آن است قایقی بسازد و از این خاک غریب دور شود، به شهری پشت دریاها که پنجره‌هایش رو به تجلی باز است و کسی به یاد ندارد که سنگی در راه بوده باشد. از شناخته‌ترین شعره‌ای سپهری است و بیان روشن آرزوی او برای نگاهی پاک‌تر. متن کامل در ویکی‌نبشته فارسی در دسترس است.
