"The Stirring of the Word Life" is a poem by Sohrab Sepehri from The Green Volume (Hajm-e Sabz, 1967), one of the eight collections gathered in Eight Books (Hasht Ketab). It opens behind a pine grove in snow, with a flock of crows, a road that means exile, wind, song and a traveler with a faint wish for sleep, and moves through short, still images of a winter landscape toward the sense of life stirring in a single word.
