Avalanche of the Sun (Avar-e Aftab, 1961) is the third of Sohrab Sepehri's eight poetry collections, gathered in Eight Books (Hasht Ketab). Written in the same year as The East of Sorrow, it marks his turn from the darker early poems toward the spare, inward voice of his middle period, with short lines, night and water as recurring images, and a speaker waiting for a moment that is on its way.
