Bahar-e Danish is a prose fiction work in Persian, written by Inayatullah Kanabweh Lahori (died 1088 AH) and composed in 1061 AH in honor of the Mughal ruler Shah Jahan. Drawing on ancient Indian folk traditions, it employs the classical Indian storytelling technique of nested tales, stories embedded within stories. The central and lengthy narrative follows the love of Bahrevar Banu and Jahandar Shah, while the surrounding frame and subsidiary tales revolve largely around the theme of women's cunning and deception. The work occupies a place at the intersection of folk and literary fiction in the Persian storytelling tradition.
