این اثر نخستین جلد از یک تاریخ چندجلدی درباره تئاتر اوکراینی است که ایوان استشنکو، منتقد ادبی، نویسنده و مترجم اوکراینی، آن را نوشته است. کتاب در پنج فصل سازمان یافته و از مباحث کلی و مفهومی آغاز میشود؛ از جمله چگونگی پیدایش تئاتر و دگرگونی آیینهای کهن به نمایش. سپس به آداب و رسوم عامیانه لاتینی-ژرمنی و اسلاوی و محتوای آنها میپردازد و در ادامه نقش نمایش را بهعنوان ابزاری برای انتشار و ترویج بررسی میکند.
This work by Ukrainian literary critic, writer, and translator Ivan Steshenko is the first volume of a projected multivolume history of the Ukrainian theater. The volume is in five chapters. The first covers general conceptual and historical issues, such as the rise of the theater and the transformation of ancient cult rituals into performances.
