About this work

The second book of Rumi's Masnavi is a long narrative poem in Persian, continuing the celebrated spiritual and philosophical work begun in the first book. This opening section addresses the human condition, the nature of the soul, the pain of separation from the divine, and the search for inner truth. Through allegory, story, and lyrical reflection, Rumi explores themes of love, wisdom, and the relationship between the human and the sacred. The Masnavi is among the most revered works of Persian literature and Sufi thought, and this second book carries forward its central spiritual inquiry.
