نقالی تصویری یکی از اشکال نمایش سنتی ایرانی است که ریشه در دوران پیش از اسلام دارد. نقالی در آن روزگار شکلی از داستانسرایی بود که گاه با موسیقی همراه میشد. پس از گسترش اسلام در ایران، نقالی از معدود هنرهای نمایشی بود که از محدودیتهای دینی در امان ماند و به همین دلیل توانست شیوههای گوناگون اجرای زمان خود را در خود جای دهد. نقالی تصویری ترکیبی از هنرهای مختلف است و در زمره نمایشهای سنتی به شمار میرود.
