Bazm-e Khayyam, an Evening with Khayyam's Songs on October 9

On Friday, October 9, Owrang brings Bazm-e Khayyam to the stage, a program built on the world of thought of Omar Khayyam that brings poetry, music, song and theatrical performance together. The program is conceived by Sadegh Hatefi and performed by Manijeh Golchin, whose voice leads a group of California musicians. At the heart of Bazm-e Khayyam are Khayyam's songs and the trace of his thought in the music and ballads of our own time.

Life and death, arrival and departure, the passing of time, joy, doubt and the impermanence of the world, questions that have risen from Khayyam's quatrains and lived on in people's speech for centuries, are the starting point of this performance. In this work, as in his earlier ones, Hatefi carries the old poetry to the modern ear and builds that bridge through music, narrative and performance, so that the evening stays in the memory of its audience. Manijeh Golchin, who throughout her long collaboration with Hatefi has taken part in choosing the music and leading the music and dance ensembles, shapes the musical atmosphere of this program alongside him. Mahan Nejad, Nima Hekmat, Kourosh Markazi and Azadeh Nemat Gorgani are the other artists of the evening.
